“Top Outfitter” – Travel + Leisure Magazine

Travel + Leisure created a directory of standout specialists for seven types of getaways ranging from safaris to biking tours. Ryder-Walker made T+L’s distinctive list of adventure outfitters for the trekking and walking category.

What’s more, T+L only listed seven top-shelf travel companies for trekking and walking (compared to 11 companies for “Local Culture”) and we made the cut. Put another way,T+L named Ryder-Walker one of the TOP SEVEN travel companies for hiking!

“Best Adventure Travel Company on Earth,” Two Years In A Row!

National Geographic ADVENTURE Magazine surveyed more than 200 outfitters and travel companies for their feature, “Best Outfitters on Earth.” They categorized each outfitter based on their specialty, (ours was hiking and trekking), and then scored them based on various categories including education, high adventure, level of service, client references, and sustainability.

Our high overall scores, in every category, landed us within the top ten best hiking and trekking outfitters on the planet-two years in a row! We received the highest scores in Quality of Service, Spirit of Adventure, and Client Satisfaction.

“13 Best Walking Sticks To Help You Trek Better, According to Experts”

Verywell Fit Magazine interviewed Ryder-Walker’s co-founder, Peter Walker, about his favorite walking poles to help you trek better.

“The support of walking sticks improves balance and stability while strengthening upper back muscles, and takes a load off your lower back, hips, and knees. Peter Walker, a hiking guide from Ryder Walker Alpine Adventures based in Telluride, Colorado, got his start as a guide in Switzerland where everyone carried trekking poles, “even the young ones with presumably indestructible knees,” he says. According to Walker, hikers of all ages can benefit from trekking poles to help prevent future knee problems.”

“Friends fulfill a dream of hiking the Swiss Alps”

AAA Travel article written by Ryder-Walker client, Colleen Dunn Bates, on her recent Engadine Trek in the Swiss Alps.

“I’d been longing to do this inn-to-inn Alpine trek since 2000. During an annual ski trip that year, my friend Lynn Angell raved about the Alpine trek she and her husband had done the previous summer. I didn’t know such a thing was even possible and promptly made it a life goal.

As I hiked through a cool, wildflower-studded forest on the first morning of a weeklong trek in the Swiss Alps, I was struck by the quiet. There were no cars. No sirens. Not a single person yelling into a phone. But as my ears adjusted, I started hearing more: birdsong, the sound of my friends’ poles spiking the trail, and wasn’t that rushing water somewhere?”
